What is ketoacidosis?

The stomach produces excess stomach acid. In people with ketoacidosis, excess acid can cause symptoms such as persistent, painful, and bloody stools, heartburn, indigestion, bloating, constipation, and gas. This can be caused by many causes, including food, certain medications, and certain allergies and illnesses. In most people, the symptoms of ketoacidosis resolve on their own within a few days or weeks. If ketoacidosis is severe, it can be sudden.

If ketoacidosis is not treated, your symptoms may get worse. You may need to take different medicines, such as antibiotics, or you may need to take different medicines for ulcers and other conditions. Your symptoms may get better only if you are using this medicine continuously. You will need to use this medicine for several days per day to see the effects. You may need to take another medicine or you may need to take different medicines to stop the medicine from working.
